Holiday Time

Oh Lordy, it's been three weeks since I last posted, I really need to get my crafty bum into action!

In that time we've been on a lovely family holiday to Barcelona, it's such a beautiful city.  We rented an apartment which was only a minute's walk from Gaudi's Sagrada Familia.  The outside of the building is maybe not everyone's cup of tea but the inside is stunning.

I have to say we are truly "Gaudie'd out" after our trip but the shopping there is fabulous too.  Will definitely be a city I will return to.

Anyways, I'm here today with a card for the new Crafty Cardmakers challenge - FUN IN THE SUN -  which this time is hosted by Lin.  (Lin would like to see something relating to summer fun, so that might be holiday related, or something you might do outdoors when the sun is shining)

I used part of an image by Saturated Canary (Winnie Goes Camping) which I coloured with Promarkers then layered up with some DP and some ribbon for grass, then added some stitching for detail.  I haven't done any colouring for ages and this is the first time I've used a digi image.  I did wonder if the image would bleed when I started to colour it, but it was fine!

Our sponsors for this challenge are

I'd also like to enter the current challenge over at Addicted to CAS - which is Holiday.

Thanks for popping, I'll be back soon (no really I will!).

Poppy Heart

Hi Bloggers,

I was in a local craft shop the other day (The Papeterie), I just wanted to get some coloured card, but I saw this lovely Poppy Heart stamp by Indigo Blue.  Inspired by Sharon from Crafty Cardmakers fabulous Remembrance Day card, I just had to have it.

Showing the dimension

Indigo Blu Poppy Heart stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, then coloured with Promarkers (Poppy, Berry Red, Red, Holly, Lush Green & Sky Blue). I added a touch of sparkle to the poppy centres with Sakura Black Sparkle pen.  Popped up onto Stampin Up Real Red card (hope this qualifies as 'dimension'). The label dies are also Stampin Up. The card base is 6x6".

I'd like to enter into three challenges:

Cas-ual Fridays CFC 74 - Put your {Heart} into it
Let's Create & Craft #56 - Dimension
I Love Promarkers #139 - Anything Goes

I'm going to send this card to a friend I haven't seen in ages. We met whilst I was researching my family tree, she is a volunteer at the local Family History Society and has a passion for WWI. To date I think she has collated the details of around 11,000 casualties from the North East of Scotland.  I'm sure she'll appreciate it, just as I appreciate all of you popping in to spend a few moments with me.

Thanks again, take care

Angel ATC

The current theme at ATC Challenges is Anything Goes/Wings.

I've had a go at colouring Sugar Nellie's Guardian Angel  using the "no lines" technique which I saw over at Debbi's blog.  (Don't think it's a great success but it was my first go).

Card base is silver miri, embossed then 'dabbed' with acrylic paint.
Image coloured with Promarkers and I've added Rock Candy Crackle Paint to their wings
The clouds are Tim Holtz Tattered Floral cut in felt

Thanks for dropping in.

Hey There Little Lady

I'm entering the "I Love Promarker Challenge" this week, as it's a "Clean & Simple" week, which I find much easier to do than lot of layers and embellishments.

I've used a Sugar Nellie stamp "Dress up Maggie" which I purchased specifically to go with this sentiment from Waltzing Mouse (though this is the first time I've actually made a card with them!)

Stamped in Versfine Sepia, coloured with Promarkers and a touch of Sakura Gel pens.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Packaging gone Pink

For some odd reason, I've gone pink today ... I started off by making a fabric flower after seeing this post by Vicky at Blush.

I then decided to incorporate it in a late entry for the GC106 - Packaging Materials challenge over at Gingersnap Creations.

I've used a white mice sweetie tin (my husband's favourite - personally I think they're horrible, I mean they're not even real chocolate!)

I've covered it in Bo Bunny DP & embossed gold card, coloured and adhered my favourite Simply Sassy image (Hippie Chick), added a string of pink beads and the flower is adhered to a wooden stick (from one of those fragrance reed thingies).

A nice little pen pot for my messy desk.

Thanks for visiting.

Zentangle Flower Power

Over at Just for Fun  this week, the challenge is "Zentangle".

I've heard of Zentangle but never tried it, so this challenge was just the coaxing I needed to give it a go. And what fun it turned out to be ...

To give me a start I drew round a Tim Holtz Dress form, then I just began doodling ....

I then added a bit of colour with Promarkers

Then I mounted it behind a dress form cut out, added a few Zentangle flowers, and voila, a snazzy bookmark.

This was so enjoyable to do - and a nice change from inks & stamps!  Why not give it a go.

Happy Doodling

Simply Sassy Banner Challenge

Just a quick posting.  I've made a card for the Simply Sassy Banner Challenge using Hippie Chick, one of my favourite Sassy images.

She's coloured with promarkers with a touch of Sakura glitter pen and the image is mounted onto Bo Bunny and Core'dinations card.

Closing date for entries is Saturday 7th May so come on all you Sassy fans, get colouring!  Good luck to all entrants.

Something with Wings - Sugar Nellie's Guardian Angel

I really should stop spending so much time wandering around blogland because I've come across yet another challenge that I quite fancy and I've spent the last couple of hours making a card when I should have been ironing!

It's the Stamp Something Challenge and it appealed to me because the theme this week is "Something with Wings".  Sugar Nellie's Guardian Angel immediately sprung to mind, I really love this stamp.

She's coloured with Promarkers and I've kept the design nice and simple so as not to detract too much from the image.

Thanks for visiting.

Candy and a Card

The very talented Debbi is giving away some lovely goodies over at her blog.  If you use promarkers (or would like to give them a go) Debbi has some excellent tutorials.

And here is a card I made for a competition being held by The Papeterie, a local craft store in Aberdeen. It had to be made with products currently sold at the store, so I've gone for a Simply Sassy image, coloured with promarkers and mounted onto card & DP sold at the shop. Cards entered are then donated to charity.

Have a great holiday weekend and hope you all manage to fit in some crafty time.

"Less is More" Challenge

The theme this week over at the "Less is More" Challenge is 'Pastel Colours'.  I panicked a bit when I read it but actually it wasn't as daunting as I first thought!

Can't believe I'm actually submitting my post on the first day - amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it (and your kids are occupied elsewhere!!).

So here's my entry:

One of my new Simply Sassy girls which I acquired yesterday, coloured with Promarkers (with a touch of Sakura Gelly Rolls), mounted onto glitter paper and DP.  I've used a 5 x 7 card .

I haven't added a sentiment as I thought there was enough on it as is!

Simply Sassy Artistic Goddess
Promarkers/Sakura Gelly Rolls
Adhesive Glitter paper from Hobbycraft
Papermania Summer Bloom DP

"Less is More" Challenge

Onto week 4 over at the Less is More Challenge, and this week the required element is "3 squares".

I'm feeling more relaxed about the challenge this week, so I've gone for something a little bit different to what I normally do.

Here is my entry:

I stamped the house images and coloured with promarkers and a touch of distress ink. Punched out the 3 houses using a 2" square punch, mounted them onto Kraft card and added some faux stitching.  The wording is stamped directly onto the card base.

The photo doesn't pick it up but the middle house is popped up and I've added glossy accents to the windows.

House Stamp - Woodware 'Home Sweet Home'
Letter stamps - Studio G Alphabet
Versafine vintage sepia, promarkers, distress ink, white sakura pen.
Kraft card

I'm off now to have a look at the 100 or so ladies who have already entered!

"Less is More" Challenge

It's week 3 over at the "Less is More" challenge and oh my goodness, this week has been even tougher than last week.  The theme is Spring.

I decided to go oriental and do cherry blossom (that was the easy bit!)  Oh my, trying to find a suitable sentiment to go with it.  I spent ages on the internet and eventually came across this quote by William Shakespeare (who'd have thought culture and crafting would blend together so nicely! Lol), then of course printing it out took a bit of time too!

The image is stamped and clear embossed, then coloured with promarkers and a touch of Sakura (Japanese for cherry blossom, don't you know!) Gelly Roll pen.

(Added Note: The image is the same stamp, stamped twice and it's a stamp which was purchased quite a few years ago from Lakeland (Kitchens) who I don't think do craft supplies anymore.)

(Further Note: I notice Beryl  (entry no 131) has used a blossom stamp from the same stamp set I've used.  She says hers is from the English Stamp Company, so I've checked their website and it's exactly the same stamp set and it's still available to purchase - obviously ESCo made it for Lakeland!).

Hope you like it.
