"Less is More" Challenge

Week 9 over at the Less is More Challenge is "A Touch of Red".

Well, just when I thought I was going to have a relaxing Mother's Day, crafting all day, I've been tearing my hair out - and here are the culprits - a trio of CAS cards!

The first card was NOT meant to be a christmas card.  I know many people make christmas cards throughout the year but I'm not one of them.  Anyway, once I'd teamed up the red and silver, it started to look very Christmassy so I just went the whole way with it.  Enough said!

Hero Arts Poinsettia Cling Stamp
Silver embossing powder
Xmas Border Embossing Folder
Berry Red Promarker
Silver Miri and Red SU card

Next I went red and gold.  This was my fourth attempt at trying to emboss red and gold together.  I'm sure there's a proper way to do it but I inked the whole stamp with Versamark first, then added red ink to the flower heads.  Once stamped, I covered the red bits with clear embossing powder, then covered the rest with gold EP.  Think the black band is a bit flat, maybe should have embossed it??

Inkadinkado Flower Sentiments
Versamark and Dew Drop Rocket Red Inks
Clear and Gold EP
Gold Miri

The final one was more fun to do. Again I embossed the poinsettia stamp in silver, then popped up the embossed girl image. I added the sentiment into a flattened bottle cap (thought it would go with the teenage theme).  I inked the cap with versamark then silver embossed it (caution - cap gets quite hot when heated).

Hero Arts Poinsettia Cling Stamp
Silver embossing powder
Inkadinkado 'In the Groove' stamp
Dew Drop Rocket Red ink with clear EP
Bottlecap - sentiment is Papermania - coated in glossy accents

Apologoies for the long post this week.  Will probably be a last minute entrant (and not able to do much commenting) next week as we're off next Saturday to the Isle of Skye for a few days.

Happy Crafting Everyone
Suze x

Looks like you had a bit of fun as well as a bit of an experiment with these!
They are all super cards.. I like the red silhouette!
The effect of the two colour embossing is super, I agree there's something about the black band.. embossing may have helped or just narrwoing it slightly then matting with gold to echo the oval frame.
Enjoy your week.

WOW Suze, such a stunning take on this weeks challenge. All three are so different and very elegant. I like them all but am swayed towards the second dandelion card... :-)

Wow what a busy girl! You are just as well starting your christmas cards early. Hee Hee. It looks fab as a bauble and like your silver strip for the sentiment. I agree with the black band and may be tempted to leave it off altogether. Your image in the gold is superb on it's own. The third card is my favourite with the red silhouette. Very funky! x

Three lovely cards, my favourite is the red and gold and yes the black band is not quite right, perhaps it is too wide.

They're all amazing but my favourite is the second one. Personally I love the band - and I like how plain it is because it really focuses the eye on the red and gold embossed image. A really striking card!

Suze...You've really been busy! Love all three cards, especially the silhouette card. As for the middle card...I think I might have made the black band a narrow band...and maybe edged it in the gold.

all great cards but I love the middle one. It's very striking
