Pain Free Waxing!

Hello all you lovely bloggers,

I've made a little hanging ornament which fits two challenges ...

Gingersnap GC130 - Spicy Supply Challenge - Wax, and
Just for Fun - Looking to the Past, 60's & 70's

My inspiration came from my daughter who had to design some 'Peace' posters for her art homework.

Peace symbol coloured with wax crayons, edged in silver pen
Silver card, recycled from a box of choccies (ooh, wonder who ate all those!)
Sun Rays embossing folder
Tim Holtz Vintage Market Die

I've never used wax in my art before and I did search the web for some ideas but as I don't have any fancy melting pots or craft irons I just decided to do a bit of colouring!

It's also been a while since I took part in the JFF challenge, the end of last year was just a bit too hectic,  but hopefully that's me back into the normal swing of things now.

Thanks for visiting,

Take Care
Suze xx

Hi Suze, this is fab! I would never have thought to use wax on a project, but you've got me thinking now. I remember once colouring a sheet of paper in solid blocks of bright colours with pencil crayons, then colouring over the whole lot with black crayon and finally scratching a design out of the black crayon to reveal the colour underneath. Might have to dig out some crayons now to have a play - can't beat the smell of them either!!

Love your take on the Peace theme which was "the thing" in those days. Not sure if this would work but if you wanted to try wax crayons again I wonder if you could put a piece of parchment over the top (baking stuff) and iron over that with a fairly hot iron. Guess it would either melt the crayons or stick to the work! Worth a try on a bit of waste stuff - might be a new technique. If you do try it (sorry I am dashing or I would) use different thicknesses of crayoning.
Oops 0 got side tracked - thanks for joining us at JFF. Hugs, Neet xx
