Chocolate Money Decoration

Before Christmas is totally forgotten about, here are the chocolate coin decorations I made this year.  They were very popular at school fairs and one teacher put in an order for her class.

I've seen similar things done with chocolate mints but I used chocolate coins - Thorntons coins were the best ones to use as they were all the same size but I also used Cadburys (a bit more expensive but I have to say they were also a bit yummier).

I glue gunned a 10cm piece of curling ribbon to one coin, then glue gunned the 2 coins together (the glue cools instantly so it doesn't melt the chocolate).  I then mounted a stamped image onto a scalloped circle (make 2 of these - one each for front & back).  I then attached the scallops onto the coins with a craft dot, and voila .... as Nigella would say, "how easy was that!"

Money Wallet

Here is a slight twist on a money wallet.  I've made it deep enough to hold a chocolate bar (it will contain a 'penny' too!!)  My photography skills aren't that great but I've finished this one off with glitter and stickles so I can enter it into the free 'sparkly' draw over at Simply Create.

and here are some more ...

they're quick and fun to make and can be personalised for each child.

Three Kings Box

I found the template for this box on Waltzingmouse's blog.  It's a bit fiddly to do but okay if you're only making a few boxes.   I have adjusted the length of it slightly to that I could fit a miniature bottle of spirits inside.  I tied on the labels with raffia which I think is a bit more 'manly' than ribbon!

Stamped image is from Inkadinkado's Christmas Characters.

Favour Box

These favour boxes are made using the paper offcut from my origami chocolate boxes (see last post).  I have embossed both the snowflake and the paper.

They're just big enough to hold 3 chocolate mints.

Papermania Victorian Fleur Embossing Folder

Christmas Fairs

Can't believe it's the last day of November.  I've been so busy the last couple of weeks, getting all my goodies ready for the school christmas fairs.  Unfortunately my last fair was cancelled due to heavy snowfall so I've still got a heap of stock piled up in the kitchen.

Here's a couple of pics of  my stall:

Most popular items were the chocolate boxes (stack of 2 origami boxes containing chocolates and After 8 mints - ideal for Christmas place settings), the desktop calendars and these post-it note holders which my mother made:

These tree decorations made with Thorntons chocolate coins were also a hit.

Personally, I liked the Snowman Soups:

Easel Card Calendar

Here I've turned an easel card into a desk calendar.  This is a fabulous stamp by Kanban which I have embossed in gold and added extra bling to.

Products used are gold miri card, Kanban Spring Silhouettes stamps, Versamark with gold embossing powder, various coloured gems.

Fiskars Butterfly Magic

At last, a wee bit of spare time to upload a few pics.  Think this butterfly stamp will become one of my favourites.

This was a simple one, just stamped in Versafine imperial purple and clear embossed.

This one was again stamped with Versafine imperial purple and clear embossed.  Other products used were Stampin Up Pale Plum card, Papermania Victorian Fleur and Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folders and a bit of bling.

Variations on a theme

Had my favourite oriental girl stamp out today, though somehow I just can't bring myself to make two cards exactly the same!

"For You" Card

I bought my cuttlebug machine quite a few months ago (before I started card making) and I'm only now getting the hang of it.  I really love the embossing folders.  This is a 'pretty' card (not usually my style!) but I think it would suit a variety of occasions.

Ink, stamps, small scallop punch and scallop square punch, all Stampin' Up.
Nestabilities Petite Ovals Large
Papermania 'Victorian Fleur' embossing folder.

A Man Card

It's always more challenging to make a card suitable for men, so here's a very quick one I've done using the Cuttlebug man die.

Chinese Money Wallet

At last I have a little spare time to upload a new photo.  This is a chinese money wallet I have made for some chinese friends who are getting married this month.

Made from red card (to signify good luck) with oriental paper depicting the 'double happiness' symbol and mandarin ducks to signify love and partnership.  The ribbon also has the 'double happiness' symbol.

Pink Overload

Made a money wallet today for my niece's birthday and thought I'd make a card with the leftover paper but woah... think the pink backing paper is just a tad OTT! (actually it's not quite as sweet and sickly looking as it appears in the photo)    :-)

A Magical Moment

Have just finished the journal quilt for my Wednesday sewing group.  This month the theme was 'A Magical Moment', so here is the Bain family on holiday in Redang this summer (I've used a bit of artistic licence with the spectacular sunset!)

Wednesday's Work (if you can call crafting work!)

Was at my quilting/sewing class this morning.  Didn't get much done - too much chatting and not enough working (as usual!).  Am trying to get my 'coral reef' embroidery finished - this is how it looks like so far:

I'm meantime 'home alone' so I've just done another quick card.  I do love my japanese girl stamp.

No time for crafting today so thought I'd just post a pic.  Here's a selection of some of the pincushions I've made. Hope you like!

My first posting!

OMG, this blogging lark is exhausting.  Have just set up the blog tonight and my husband is pressurising me into also posting a photo!  So here goes .... one of my first cards ... you will soon realise that I love all things oriental!
