A Penny for your Thoughts

Over at Gingersnap Creations, the GC108 Color Challenge is - The Color of Money.

"Make something with the color of money from either your country of origin or your country of residence."

I've gone with these Scottish notes which are purple & brown ..

... and made a tag using an image from The Graphics Fairy, a cherry blossom stamp, distress inks, promarkers and a photocopy of some 'pennies'.

Now, I might as well give you all a laugh and show you my first effort ... I'm very inspired by Valerie's (Bastelmania) work ... so I thought I would try out her splodgy paint background technique, but not being an artist, all my colours mixed together and I just ended up with a brown splodgy mess!

Ah well, at least I tried! Lol!

Happy crafting everyone.

"Less is More" Challenge

Hello lovely bloggers!

Being able to get my LIM card done today has been a great end to a lovely weekend. I went to Glasgow to see Take That - it was a great concert, we had a few drinkies, did some shopping .. it was a lovely wee break.

Anyhows, over at the Less is More Challenge this week, it's a sketch ...

this is only the second time I've followed a sketch - the first one also being LIM - so I hope I've followed the rules!

I've printed a sentiment (font Pristina, size 26) directly onto the card to create the 'horizontal band', then mounted 3 flowers punched from scrap DP onto 3 embossed squares.  Very "clean & simple"!

(I do think the whole sentiment should have been printed a 'smidgen' higher but you know how it is .. it took me so long to choose the font and then get it to print straight! Lol)

Well that's it, have a great week everyone.

Her Heart Ruled Her Head

Honestly, how much time can a grown woman spend dressing up a paper doll!  Well, I can tell you, the answer is - quite a while!

This week the theme over at Craft Room Challenge is "Altered Paper Dolls".

I've used this image which I found at The Graphics Fairy ...

I coloured her skin and hair with promarkers, sewed her a skirt out of wrapping from a bunch of flowers and made her bodice from TH tattered florals petals covered in chocolate wrappers.  The bird cages are earrings.

Have to say, I think she looks quite grand!

Thanks for paying me a visit.

"Less is More" Challenge

Week 20 over at the Less is More Challenge and this week the theme is "Monogram" ...

monogram ( ) n. A design composed of one or more letters, typically the initials of a name, used as an identifying mark.

Well I have to say I wasn't overly enthused about this initially but of course once I'd had time to think about it, it turned out to be quite fun.

I've made a card for my sister-in-law who has a birthday later in the year - my brother calls her "The Queen" .....

I've used a Cuttlebug die which I bought after seeing Mandi use a while back (thanks Mandi!), a little bit of bling and the Monograms (font Castellar, size 72) have been printed directly onto the card.

Thanks for another great challenge C & M (hey, that's a bit of a coincidence!) and thanks everyone for stopping by and good luck with the challenge!

Zentangle Flower Power

Over at Just for Fun  this week, the challenge is "Zentangle".

I've heard of Zentangle but never tried it, so this challenge was just the coaxing I needed to give it a go. And what fun it turned out to be ...

To give me a start I drew round a Tim Holtz Dress form, then I just began doodling ....

I then added a bit of colour with Promarkers

Then I mounted it behind a dress form cut out, added a few Zentangle flowers, and voila, a snazzy bookmark.

This was so enjoyable to do - and a nice change from inks & stamps!  Why not give it a go.

Happy Doodling

A t!mmie Tag

I've been having a bit of a t!mmie Holtz time this weekend and have made a tag with two challenges in mind ...

Firstly The Craft Room Challenge, their first challenge being "Anything Goes" and secondly,  the 'Just for Fun' Blog whose challenge is "All Things t!m".

The tag is made from textured card, distressed with Victorian Velvet, Worn Lipstick and Crushed Olive. The wooden heart has been painted with gesso then stamped with a TH script stamp in Worn Lipstick. The TH Flourish and Inkadinkado sentiment are stamped in Vintage Photo and Worn Lipstick and the bottle cap is adorned with TH die, mirror and bling.

That's it for now, thanks for visiting.

"Less is More" Challenge

Week 19 over at the Less is More Challenge and it's a one layer week with the theme "In the Frame".

I've used a frame from an Inkadinkado Christmas set which has never seen ink before and have had a bit of fun playing about with Tim Holtz distress inks (my daughter will argue that these are her inks - but she's happy to share! - aren't you Emily! xx)

I stamped the frame using Crushed Olive and Dusty Concord and the centre of the frame is sponged with Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick.

I've left out a sentiment as nothing seemed quite right and I think it would have detracted from the main image.

Frame - Inkadinkado Doodle Frames Holiday Stamps
Lady's face - Inkadinkado Friendship Stamps
TH Distress Inks and Versafine Vintage Sepia

Happy crafting everyone, hope you all have a great week.

A bookmark and an ATC

I recently met up with a friend and totally forgot to bring along the books I had for her, so I thought I would post one on to her - 'The Help' by Kathryn Stockett. What a great read!  I thought it would also be a nice surprise if I made her a little bookmark to go with it - (I really just wanted to try out my new stamps, Lol!)   I've been after dandelion heads for ages - these are by Personal Impressions.

Inks are Versafine Imperial Purple, Versamagic Purple Hydrangea and Brilliance Galaxy Gold.

I've also made an ATC for the ATC Challenge Blog, the theme of which is Austin Powers.  Now, I've never seen any of these movies (and I've really no desire to!) but I think this is the general concept ...

Background stamp is Crafty Individuals using Kaleidacolor 'Birthstone'
Other images are Inkadinkado, stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and Black EP.

That's it for today folks.

"Less is More" Challenge

Week 18 over at the Less is More Challenge and this week the theme is "Monochrome" ..

Using or displaying only shades of one colour or black and white.
You may choose any colour you wish, but please keep all the shades you use within your chosen spectrum.

I don't seem to have a variety of shades of any one colour, so I've gone for just the one ink but used a patterned stamp for interest.

The stamp is a 99p cheapie from g-studio
Versamagic Purple Hydrangea Ink
Coredinations Pansy Purple card
Sentiment Hero Arts

For a bit of added dimension, I coated the middle vertical line with Glossy Accents.

Have a great week everyone.
