A Springtime Bird

Hi everyone,

Happy Sunday,

I've got a little springtime birdie for you today.

I used the faux airbrushing technique using Peacock Feathers and Stormy Sky DI's
Tim Holtz Caged Bird die, using gold miri card, embossed with Victorian Fleur EF
Stampin' Up sentiment, tag punch and bird punch for branch, kraft card
Hessian 'stuff' and glass seed beeds

The inspiration for this card came from the following challenges:
Craft Stamper 'Take It, Make It' Challenge - Faux Airbrushing Technique
Less is More Challenge week 112 - Use Beads and
Addicted to CAS #9 - Spring

That's me for today - short and sweet! I got a new washing machine fitted this week so I've been washing like a mad woman and now I've a ton of ironing and I'll have to at least do some of it or the kids won't have any uniforms for tomorrow! ... dashing away with the smoothing iron ....

Thanks for taking the time to come visit.

Take care

CATCH A FALLING STAR ....

... and put it in your pocket ... save it for a rainy day ...

Evening all, I hope you're all well.  It's been absolutely baltic in the north east of Scotland today, so I'm afraid there's nothing for it but to stay home, craft and eat cake!

There's a bit of a trend going around at the moment - "Craft & Cake" - Valerie, Chrissie and Aileen are all at it and me too. Made a banana bread earlier in the week - it didn't last 24 hours - and made a lemon drizzle yesterday .... very tasty.

Anyway, onto my card,

I made a pocket out of Stampin' Up DP, die cut a sparkly star and added a couple of small brads and some sparkly alphabet stickers (a tad fiddly to get lined up!).

The idea is to pop a money gift in the pocket for good exam results etc.

I'm entering into three challenges ...

CASology - Song (Catch a falling star)

CAS-ual Fridays - No Stamps

lemon drizzle cake
Okay dokey, that's me for tonight, thanks for popping in, take good care and if you've time, why not make a delicious home baked cake and share it with your blogging friends!!

Oh, by the way, I've been getting some spam comments so I've had to put on 'comment moderator' for the time being. Honestly, have these people nothing better to do!

Bye for now

Patchwork Friendship

Good morning dear friends,

How are you all this Monday morning, I do hope you're feeling in "fine fettle"!

It's time for another challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and this fortnight the theme is "Friendship".  (Please include the word 'friend' or 'friendship' on your project).

I love to see stitching on cards so I made the effort and dug out the old sewing machine.  (If you're sewing on paper/card just remember and keep an old needle specifically for this purpose).

I punched out squares from various scrap pieces of DP then lightly glued them onto a piece of copier paper.  I then zig-zagged (or, if you remember the Spice Girls - you could say I "zig-a-zig-aahed!") the seams.  I then cut out the heart with a Bigz Sizzix Die. The little white hearts are from  the Stampin' Up owl punch.

The sentiment is PC generated and I added some stitching to this too.

I do hope you can join in with us over at Crafty Cardmakers - whether it be a card, tag or a wee gift for a special friend (just remember to include the word 'friend' or friendship').

Thanks for taking the time to visit.

Take care

Antique Engravings In The Frame

Hello Crafters,

I had great intentions of going out today but it's such a dull, grey day here in Aberdeen I thought I'd switch on the heating and spend some time in my little crafty room.

It's been a few weeks since I've joined in with the Less is More Challenge but when I saw the theme this morning was "Frame It", I was inspired to do a little thinking outside the box.

Here's my card ....

I stamped and clear embossed several images from the Hero Arts Antique Engravings set then sponged over with Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers and Dusty Concord DI's.  I then mounted the images behind a Tim Holtz filmstrip die. DL card base.

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

I'm also linking this card to Addicted to CAS #8 - Wings

Thanks for popping in to see me, I'll pop round to visit this evening and I'll see you again on Monday for the new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers.

Take care

Card and Gift in One

Hi all,

As some of you know I've been lacking a bit (understatement!) in the crafting department of late but I was at my sewing class this morning and one of the ladies was showing us how to make hanging padded Christmas decorations.

Well, I wasn't in the mood for doing anything Christmassy (I think the winter blues has had a lot to do with my lack of motivation and now that there's a glimmer of spring in the air, I don't want to do any winter projects!) so, I decided to make a heart decoration and incorporate it into a card for my mum (Mother's Day is this weekend in the UK).

Here are the basic instructions:

  • You need two cardboard shapes and two pieces of wadding to match - I used a Sizzix heart die for mine but everyone else just handcut theirs.
  • Lighty glue the wadding to the cardboard, then cover each shape (wadding side up) with a fabric of your choice.
  • You then sandwich the two halves together with a strong PVA glue
  • You then hide the joins by attaching ribbon or braid around the join (UHU glue works well for this)
  • the braid/ribbon covering the join of the two halves
  • You can then sew or attach a hanging ribbon to the back.

You can also make several padded shapes and string them together with beads or ribbon to make a hanging.

The cameo I used was a cheap ring I bought ages ago from Primark and I just cut off the ring part and used a strong glue to attach to the front of the heart.

I attached the heart to the inside of the card with removable tape so that it can be used as a hanging.

Challenges:
Craft Room Challenge - From Me to You
Out of a Hat Creations - Hanging About

Thank you so much for popping in today and thanks for your kind words of encouragement.  I really enjoyed making this little decoration and hopefully it's kick started my butt back into crafting mode!

See ya,

CCM 86 Masculine Birthday

Hi all,

Another week and another Monday are upon us and it's time for another challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers.

This time our challenge is MASCULINE BIRTHDAY.  (Make a masculine card that includes some technology or a gadget).  Well, this certainly was a challenge for me because I don't usually "do" male cards - I tend to just buy them!!!

I don't do fancy either so it's another clean and simple card ...

The penny farthing stamp and sentiment are both Stampin' Up.  I also used a snippet of antique map DP.

Our sponsors for this challenge are Di's Digi Downloads and The Stamp Man

Now, tell, me, does anyone have a cure for crafting aversion! I've been like this since Christmas, I just can't seem to get enthused to do anything and I have to tell you, it's starting to annoy me.  I really want to get back into it but nothing seems to be inspiring me.  Any suggestions gratefully received!

Okay dokes, thanks for coming to visit, hope you're all keeping well.
