Let's Get Knotty

Hi folks,

No, it's not a spelling mistake, I do mean 'knotty' and not 'naughty'!

The challenge this fortnight over at Anything But a Card is TIE IT UP! (incorporate things that can be tied: twine, ribbon, thread, wire, rope, cording, trim, chain, seam binding, etc).

What immediately sprung to mind for me was Macrame, all the rage in the 70's, when every trendy household had a hanging plant pot holder! However, that being several decades ago, I couldn't remember how to do the knots so I had to to look it up on the web.  I've gone for the simplest knot and made a wee keyring using black cord and some wooden beads...

Also big in the 70's was stitched art.  I can remember my mother chapping in hundreds of nails and wrapping round fancy threads to make fabulous creations - she may even still have them in the loft - I particularly remember she did a penny farthing!!

Anyways, whilst I was in a retro mood, I decided to make a  stitched card.

I simply printed out a heart shape and punched holes with a needle. I used 3 strands of DMC thread and added some beads.

This card fits the challenges over at ...

Addicted to CAS - Code Word - Heart
Let's Craft and Create - CAS Love

And just for good measure here's a photo of the beautiful sky this morning looking out over the North Sea.

Thanks for coming to visit, hope you're all well!

Take care

Sew Sorry

Happy Monday folks,

I'm here with a card for the new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers.

Kim is our hostess and she's chosen the theme "BELATED BIRTHDAY".  We're asking you to create a card which MUST include a sentiment indicating that the card is for a belated birthday.

Here's my card ...

Cross stitch stamps are from Stampin' Up as are the strips of card. I've used the colours Real Red and Lucky Limeade.  The cross stitch embossing folder is Tim Holtz.

I've tried to emulate the look of washi tape with the embossed strips and sentiment.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Milk Coffee Digital Stamps
and also Sir Stampalot

I'm also making this a second entry for the challenges over at
Addicted to CAS - "Embossing" and
CAS-ual Fridays CFC86 - "Long and Short"

The Road of Friendship

Hi all,

Well, I daren't look back and see how long it's been since I joined in with some of my favourite challenges but when I saw the theme this week over at Less is More was "FRIENDS", it was just what I needed to get my CAS juices flowing again.

It's a special friend's birthday this week. She recently bought herself a shiny red scooter and at the age of 47 passed her biker's test - she really is one of a kind!

Card base is 3.5" x 7". Scooter stamp is from Hobbycraft, stamped with Versamark and embossed with red glitter EP. The wavy line stamp is Hero Arts and the sentiment is PC generated.  I coloured a cocktail stick with a black Promarker for the flagstick.

I'm also joining in with the challenges over at Addicted to CAS - "Embossing" and
CAS-ual Fridays CFC86 - "Long and Short"

Thanks for popping in today, have a great week.

Take care

Trying Very Hard

Hi Folks,

My mojo still seems to be hiding under an invisibility cloak but I'm trying very hard to find it!

I have been browsing and trying to catch up with my visiting and I've been inspired to make a wee tag for one of my favourite challenges ....

Anything But a Card - Challenge 10 - Things with Wings

I started off by making a couple of origami butterflies. They were a little bit fiddly as I used 2 inch squares but as long as your creases are sharp, it's fine. I made the antenna with a couple of seed beeds and some thin ribbon wire.

The Kanban image was clear embossed onto the tag which I then coloured with distress inks.

Finished it off by adding the quote, pearls and lace.

And I'm also linking to the fun anniversary post over at Ardyth's, instigated by the anniversary this week of the lovely walented and titty talented and witty Darnell.

We'll be 18 years married this year, and no we didn't get married in bonnie Scotland - I like to do things a bit differently, so we went to Las Vegas! My husband still nags me for only giving him $10 pocket money a night!

Thanks for popping in today.

Take care

PUCKER UP!

Good morning everyone - remember me - I used to be a blogger! Lol!

I found that things were just getting too hectic in the run up to Christmas so I took an unplanned blogging break, and I have to say, I think it's done me the world of good - this blogging lark can take over your life a bit and you can start to feel under pressure about entering challenges, but I'm back because I have really missed you all and I am feeling all refreshed and raring to go!!

I'm not one for making New Year resolutions but with regards to my crafting life, I would like to do a bit more sewing this year and I'd also like to get back into tracing my family tree. 2-3 years ago before I started card making, genealogy was my hobby. It's just as addictive as crafting and just SO fascinating.

Anyway, I'm here today with a wee tag for the new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers.  The theme is "Create a Fairytale Scene".

I don't have any suitable 'fairytale' type stamps, so I used my Silhouette to cut out an image of "The Princess and the Frog".  The tag was made with DP on card, which I edged with DI, then I just added some star gems, a bit of ribbon and a sentiment from Inkadinkado.

Okay dokes, thank you so much for coming to visit me. I have a lot of catching up to do but I will come see you - promise!!

Take good care
