Final Time at JFF

Woe is me ... it's the final challenge over at Just for Fun ... all I can say is ladies, I hope you've got something else up your sleeve!?!?

In keeping with the overall masculine theme, this week it's "Distress Him".  I really didn't know what to do - so, if in doubt - do a tag!

Tag base is Tim Holtz paper, distressed with various DI's and a nailfile! Grungepaper strip inked with DI and stamped. Clock die inked with DI's. Umbrella man stamped onto acetate. Sentiment computer generated.

A huge thank you to Neet, Von & Zoe for such an inspirational and fun challenge and to all the other ladies who take the time to visit each week.

Finally,  in the words of the Von Trapp family .... so long, farewell ..... see you soon (I hope!)

Scrappy Heart

Hi bloggers, hope you're having a lovely Sunday wherever you are.

Time again for the Less is More Challenge, which this week is "Don't Scrap It!" (ie. use up some of your scraps)

I'm sure we could all make a thousand cards with all the scraps we keep.  Rummaging through my scraps I couldn't believe just how many tiny scrappy bits I keep!

I've made a card with some thin strips of paper I found ....

I glued the strips onto a plain piece of paper then cut it out with a Sizzix heart die, edged with Victorian Velvet DI.  Sentiment is Stampin' Up, punched out with an SU  heart punch.

The gold ribbon was in my scrap box too and already had a small punched heart attached to it, so I just used this to finish off the back of the card.

Thanks for visiting - hope you're all enjoying the mild weather.

Bye for now.

Yee Haw Cowboy!

Hello bloggers,

I've a bit of a late entry for this week's Just For Fun Challenge 'cause I was totally stumped by the theme which is "Sporty for a Man".

My husband and son don't play sports - they hillwalk and scuba dive - and I thought I didn't have any sports related stuff ... until today, when I remembered by Waltzingmouse Cowboy stamps, so I've made a little rodeo tag ...

Other than one load of washing, this is all I've done today as I've been sitting watching QVC's American Craft day - but dearie me - where do they get those presenters from, they're absolutely diabolical!

Oh well, hope you're all having a fun crafty day, thanks for coming to visit.

(PS. with regards to the demise of Google Friends Connect, I've decided to hold tight and see what happens on the 1st March.  Most blogs I follow use 'blogger' so I'm hoping that we'll all still be connected to each other on the 1st. Those that I lose connection with I will find another way to re-follow).

Take care

Baby Elephants

Hi everyone,

A quick post today, it's my son's 15th birthday so we're just away out for tea.  The theme this week over at the Less is More Challenge is "Punches or Die Cuts".  I've done a bit of both ...

My initial idea was to use the Stampin Up bird punch, but rummaging through my punches I came across an unused Martha Stewart elephant punch.  The papers are mainly Stampin Up and I used a nestie to cut out the aperture.

Wishing you all a great week.

Thanks for visiting.

Sewing and Stamping

Hello lovely bloggers,

One of the things on my 'to do' list for this year was to do a bit more sewing and to try my hand at mixed media.

I've made a start and made a card using a lovely collage stamp by Stampendous ....

I started by gluing some tissue paper to some kraft card which I then inked with Forest Moss then stamped the image with Versafine Olympia Green.

I then stamped the image again onto some card I had inked with various greens, cut out the bird and glued it to the main image. I embossed the bird's crown in gold.

I stitched some fabric (which has gold thread running through it) onto my kraft card base, then stitched the stamped image on top.
showing the shimmer!
I then finished it off with some green fiber from Basic Grey.

I'd like to enter it into two challenges ...

Gingersnap Creations GC136 - Glorious Greens
Fashionable Stamping Challenge #15 - Monochromatic Plus One Other Colour (Green & Gold)

Thanks for taking the time to visit.

There's love in the Journal!

The second Art Journal Challenge is under way over at The Craft Barn and the theme is "Filled with Love".

Here's my page ...

Background is sponging with DI's through some Tim Holtz die cuts (my favourite ones), some Glimmer Mist and cut out flowers. Hearts are punched from card which has been alcohol inked, distress inked and stamped.  Words were stamped onto tissue paper then adhered. (oops, sorry, impatient me took the photo before the glue was dry).

My words are ...  Family, Friends, Travel, Crafting and Chocolate.

If you fancy joining in the fun the challenge is open until the 25th February.

Take care and thanks for paying me a wee visit.

Vintage Men

Hi all,

(Sorry, two posts in one day but I have to squeeze in a last minute entry for the Fashionable Stamping challenge.)

Over at Just For Fun, this week the challenge is "Vintage Men", and over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges it's "Make it a Guy Thing", so I've made a card ...

Penny Farthing and sentiment stamps inked in Versamagic Night Sky, stamped onto kraft card and matted onto DP.

I also made a Motown tag (love Motown and soul music) for Just for Fun, however I felt this was a bit of a cop out as it only just scrapes by as vintage and is really only a bit of inking and a bit of "cutting and pasting" ..

Thanks for coming to visit, enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Subtle Stripes

I've come to realise that there are quite a few things "I don't do".  I don't do men's cards, I don't do bright colours, I don't do buttons, ribbon or polka dots - and I don't do STRIPES!

I wasn't overly enthused this morning then when I checked the Less is More challenge, cause STRIPES it is (and it's one layer week to boot!).

Well I have to say, I surprised myself and this card is one of the quickest I've ever made.

I don't have any stripey stamps so quickly realised I'd have to create my own.  I inked through a heart diecut with Tattered Rose DI, then inked my 'subtle stripes' by inking along the edge of a piece of card with Victorian Velvet DI.

A scrap of lace and a large pearl finishes it off.

It looks a bit bare without a sentiment but I've left one off meantime.  It's a bit too feminine to give to a man for valentines so I'll probably use it for a birthday or mother's day.

Thanks for visiting, hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

Aagh!

I have a confession to make - I don't make masculine cards - I buy them! You can guess my "excitement"  then (not) when I saw that over at the Just for Fun Challenge, it's going to be "A whole month of Men" - thanks Neet! Lol!

This week the theme is "Black and White" and being one of my favourite challenges I just had to give it a go (and actually it wasn't too painful once I got started! Lol)

Tim Holtz Brick & Woodgrain Embossing Folders, with a touch of Black Soot DI
Tim Holz Umbrella Man Stamp
Tim Holtz Photo Strip Die
Sentiment is Personal Impressions (stamped on acetate)

Thanks for visiting and if you fancy a bit of a fun challenge this month, pop on over to JFF.

Happy Birthday "Less is More"

This week we're celebrating the first birthday of the fab "Less is More Challenge".  This was the first challenge I ever entered and it really kickstarted my 'blogging' life and introduced me to so many great blogging friends - so thank you Chrissie and Mandi for all you hard work.

Now onto this week's challenge which is the colour "Aqua" ...

I was rummaging in the cupboards yesterday as my daughter wanted to do some felt sewing and I came across some turquoise wrapping paper - "that'll do nicely" thought I.  I embossed a La Blanche stamp with white EP and mounted it behind a Tim Holtz dress form aperture.  Sentiment is Hero Arts and the card is DL size.

The card on the left is taken with my camera but in real life the blue is really a turquoise colour - the photo below was taken with my phone - this shows a truer colour but not such a detailed image.

Thanks for coming to visit, hope you all have a great week - keep safe & warm!
