Red, White & Blue

Hi there everyone,

Hope you're having a nice weekend wherever you are.  I'm sure most of you will know that it's a holiday weekend here in the UK in honour of our Queen's Diamond Jubilee and this week Chrissie and Mandi over at the Less is More Challenge have picked up on this celebration for their challenge which is "Red, White & Blue".

First I made this card but I'm not happy with the stamping - the ink really seemed to soak into the card ... (sentiment is Stampin' Up)

 so I made another ...

This card is for a friend who phoned me out of the blue from Switzerland on Friday, we haven't seen each other for 8 years, it was such a lovely surprise, we could have talked all day!

Sentiment is Stampin' Up, flower is made from free Craft Stamper stamp and TH floral die, lacy punch is Stampin' Up.

Okay, that's it from me, I'll be round to visit you all tomorrow, my daughter is heading off to Paris at 11pm tonight and she's only half packed!

Thanks for visiting!
Suze xx

Hi Suze,
the first one looks kind of distressed - who would know its not meant to look like that :)
and the other one is lovely too - like the greeting on it

Suze, I do love the look of the second card...and what a wonderful surprise to hear from an old friend!! I have trouble stamping with "colors" too!

It's funny how different cardstock accepts ink differently... sometimes it's a case of trying different inks to see which works best.
Two great designs, but I think the second is my fave.
Thanks so much
Chrissie

Hi Suze, what a busy day you've had! Hope Ems got away safely.

Love the row of sentiments on first and I think the ink looks like faded jeans. The second is a pretty design, love the flower.

Both cards are great Suze and the first does look distressed. I'd try a different card stock if you prefer a cleaner look; stamping on a surface with a bit of 'give' like a magazine can also help. I love your second card with all its different textures. Vicky x

I like them both Suze but I think that the first one is my fav. I love the stamp. It is so much more than a sentiment. Lilian

Hi Suze I like the distressed look that you (inadvertently) achieved with the first card, super sentiment on the second one and perfect for the occasion

It's funny but if you hadn't said I would have thought the faded ink was deliberate, I love it, it's got a very modern yet vintage look and your second card is gorgeous (what a lovely surprise you had......its a super card for your friend)

Super cards, I like the distressed look of the first, but, the arrangement of the second is spot on!
i use a lot of hammer card, but, if stamping I use the back which is smoother
Thank you very much
